# What does Dangerous goods (DG) mean in logistics?

Short answer

Substances or articles that can harm people, property or the environment in transport, grouped into nine UN hazard classes (explosives, gases, flammable liquids and so on). Each mode has its own code: the IMDG Code for sea, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations for air.

On Indian roads, CMVR Rules 129 to 137 govern hazardous goods: class labels, the emergency information panel, the TREM card, and duties of the consignor, transporter and driver. Ask our desk how this applies to your consignment.
