It shows the busiest state to state corridors, how bookings move through the year, how many days each distance band takes to deliver, where part loads outweigh full truckloads, and the declared value of the goods on each corridor. SSL booked 5,13,216 consignments weighing 6,72,020 tonnes in FY2025-26, and 87% of them crossed a state border. 2. The busiest corridor was Gujarat to Jharkhand, with 87,569 consignments, 17.1% of everything booked in the year. 3. By weight the heaviest corridor was Maharashtra to Jharkhand, carrying 51,286 tonnes. 4. The ten busiest state to state corridors carried 72% of all consignments, out of 291 interstate pairs that moved freight. 5. Part load bookings peaked in April 2025 at 51,315 consignments and bottomed in June 2025 at 20,135, a swing of 2.5 times. 6. Delivered consignments under 100 km took a median of 1 day from booking, against 9 days on the 1,500 to 2,000 km band. 7. On the 2,000 km and over band the middle half of deliveries arrived in 5 to 9 days. 8. Part loads were 74% of consignments but full truckloads carried 87% of the tonnes from August 2025 to March 2026. 9. Deliveries into the East region were 90% part load, against 2% into the West region. 10. The most interstate tonnage, 2,50,811 tonnes, moved on corridors whose declared goods value was 1 to 2 lakh per tonne. 1 · Corridors ## The busiest state to state corridors State of booking to state of delivery. This is the value of the goods, not the freight. Corridors with less than 1,000 tonnes are left out. [Download CSV (5 rows)](https://safeandsecure.in/data/india-freight-movement-2026/goods-value-bands.csv) Method ## How we built it **Source.** The SSL booking register, every consignment booked from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026. **De-duplication.** One row per consignment number; where a consignment appears more than once, the latest entry is kept. **Tonnes.** Charged weight. Any single consignment above 100 tonnes is left out as a likely entry error. Charged weight can be higher than actual weight, because light, bulky parcels are charged on volume. **Corridors.** Booking state to delivery state, with register spellings merged to the 36 states and union territories. **Load type.** The register’s own field, full truckload or part load. The regional mix uses August 2025 to March 2026 only, because full truckloads were barely entered before August. 10,643 consignments with no load type are counted in totals but not in the mix. **Transit.** Delivery date minus booking date in calendar days, on consignments with a recorded delivery date and known pickup and delivery pincodes. Distance is the straight line between pincodes multiplied by a road factor. **Goods value.** Declared value of the goods on the consignment note, any single consignment above 25 crore left out. Consignments entered with no value pull a band down, so treat bands as a floor. **Excluded.** Freight charges and rates, customer and party names, vehicle numbers and anything else that identifies a person or a business. **Limits.** This is one carrier’s register, heavy on lanes into the East, and not a random sample of Indian freight. **Rebuild.** `python3 scripts/build-freight-movement-2026.py` and `python3 data/atlas/build-flows.py`.
