Cross-Docking & Transhipment Services in India
Safe & Secure Logistics operates cross-docking and transhipment facilities across India, enabling rapid cargo consolidation, deconsolidation, and onward dispatch without long-term warehousing. Cross-docking reduces storage costs, accelerates transit times, and improves supply chain velocity — making it ideal for time-sensitive distribution, PTL consolidation, and hub-and-spoke logistics operations.
What is Cross-Docking?
Cross-docking is a logistics practice where inbound cargo from multiple origins is received at a facility, sorted, consolidated or deconsolidated, and immediately loaded onto outbound vehicles for onward delivery — typically within 24 hours. Unlike traditional warehousing, cargo spends minimal time in storage, reducing handling costs, inventory holding costs, and transit time.
Cross-Docking Models We Operate
- Consolidation Cross-Dock: Cargo from multiple suppliers or origins is consolidated into full truckloads for long-haul transport — reducing per-unit freight cost
- Deconsolidation Cross-Dock: Full truckloads from origin are broken down and sorted for delivery to multiple destinations — enabling cost-effective last-mile distribution
- Hub Cross-Dock (PTL): Our PTL hub-and-spoke network uses cross-docking at hub locations to sort and redirect part-truckload shipments from feeder routes to trunk routes and vice versa
- Opportunistic Cross-Dock: Matching inbound supply with known outbound demand in real-time to bypass storage entirely — used for FMCG and retail flow-through distribution
- Retail Cross-Dock: Receiving vendor shipments, sorting by store, and dispatching store-ready deliveries — used by retail chains for distribution centre bypass
Transhipment Services
In addition to cross-docking, Safe & Secure provides transhipment services where cargo is transferred between different transport modes or vehicle types:
- Road-to-Road: Transfer from long-haul vehicles to last-mile delivery vehicles
- Rail-to-Road: Container or wagon offloading at ICDs and transhipment to road vehicles for final delivery
- Sea-to-Road: Port drayage and transhipment to inland road transport
- LCV-to-HCV / HCV-to-LCV: Vehicle type conversion based on route requirements and delivery access constraints

Safe & Secure operates cross-docking facilities at strategic locations across India including Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Nagpur, Indore, and Raipur.
