What does Hazchem code and TREM card mean in logistics?

Short answer

The TREM (transport emergency) card is a written instruction sheet carried in a vehicle transporting dangerous goods, telling the driver and emergency services what the substance is and how to respond. The Hazchem code is an emergency action code displayed on the vehicle’s information panel.

CMVR Rules 129 to 137 require vehicles carrying hazardous goods to display class labels and an emergency information panel and to carry emergency information; the consignor must supply the details. Ask our desk how this applies to your consignment.
