How it works

5 steps, one desk

  1. 1 Tell us the product and set point Product, set temperature, lane, pallet or case count and loading window.
  2. 2 Reefer placed and pre-cooled The reefer reports and is pulled down to set point before loading, so the box is cold before your goods go in.
  3. 3 Load for airflow Load without blocking the return air; the doors close quickly to hold temperature.
  4. 4 Monitored in transit On control-tower networks, live temperature and GPS are read per truck and excursions are flagged. Ask the desk what monitoring your lane carries.
  5. 5 Delivery and POD The consignee receives the goods and the POD is uploaded. 95% of cold-chain consignments had one uploaded between Jul 2025 and Mar 2026.

How it works, in detail

Cold chain is transport where the temperature is part of the product. Our reefer book carries chocolate and confectionery, foods, fats and oils and temperature-sensitive chemicals on long lanes of 800 to 2,500 km, from Malanpur and Mandideep, Induri (Pune), Sri City, Dahej and Ponda to depots in the east and north.

The control tower SSL built for a leading ice-cream maker reconciles every indent, truck placement, trip, live GPS position and reefer temperature into one record across seven factories. Frozen runs at −18 °C are proven on that network. Pharmaceutical (GDP-qualified 2 to 8 °C) lanes are not an SSL service today.

On the control-tower networks SSL runs, every truck’s live temperature is monitored and breaches are flagged. For other lanes, ask our desk what logging the reefer carries before you book.
Does SSL own cold storage?
SSL does not own cold storage. Our desk can arrange cold storage for your product; tell us the temperature and city.
