What does ODC (over-dimensional cargo) mean in logistics?
Short answer
Cargo whose length, width or height, as loaded, exceeds the legal dimension limits for road vehicles, so it cannot move as a normal load.
Dimension limits come from Rule 93 of CMVR. ODC moves need permission from the road-owning authorities (MoRTH or NHAI guidance for national highways, state authorities for state roads), usually with a route survey, escort vehicles and time-of-day restrictions; e-way bill validity is one day per 20 km.
