Compare · SSL vs A large express network

A national express network, or a road-freight specialist?

Listed express companies run hub-and-spoke parcel networks that reach almost every pincode, some with their own aircraft. SSL is a road-freight carrier built around industrial corridors, part-loads, full trucks and cold chain.

A national express network is built to sort millions of small parcels a day and reach almost every pincode, which is why it suits small parcels so well and why heavy freight is a second line for most of them.

SSL is shaped the other way round: full trucks and consolidated part-loads on the corridors where Indian industry ships, with a branch and a desk behind every booking. Many shippers use both: express for parcels, a road carrier for freight.

Choose a large express network when

  • You need time-definite parcels or documents to almost any pincode, including remote ones.
  • You need air express for urgent, high-value, light shipments.
  • You ship to consumers and need returns handled at national scale.

Choose SSL when

  • Your freight is heavy or bulky and moves by road between plants, warehouses and distributors.
  • You need a whole truck placed on time, or a part-load consolidated and delivered on an industrial corridor.
  • You need reefer transport with temperature watched live.
