How it works

The method, and its limits

Litres = distance (× 2 with the return leg) ÷ mileage. Fuel cost = litres × the diesel price you enter. Nothing is pre-filled: prices differ by state and by day.

The mileage presets are typical loaded figures for Indian trucks and vary with load, terrain, traffic, tyre pressure and driving. This is fuel only. It is not a freight rate and not an SSL price.

How is truck fuel cost calculated?

Litres = distance ÷ mileage (km per litre); fuel cost = litres × your diesel price. Add the return leg if the truck runs back empty.

What mileage does a 32 ft container truck give?

Typically about 3.5 to 5 km per litre loaded, depending on axle configuration, load, terrain and driving. Use your own fleet’s figure where you have it.

Where do I get the diesel price?

Enter today’s price at your pump. Retail diesel prices differ by state because of state taxes and change over time.

Is fuel the whole cost of a trip?

No. Tolls, driver wages and allowances, tyres, maintenance, insurance, permits, finance and the chance of a return load all add to it. This tool shows fuel only.

Why add the return leg?
