How it works

The method, and its limits

The planner fills the floor in rows from the cab end. It tries every split between rows placed lengthwise and rows turned sideways, along the length and across the width, and keeps the layout that fits the most pallets. That is the same guillotine pattern a loader uses with a forklift. It does not rotate pallets inside a row or mix pallet sizes.

Truck floors come from the typical Indian body sizes in our truck sizer; ISO container floors are typical inside sizes. The count is a geometric maximum. Leave room at the doors for handling, and in a reefer leave the air gaps the unit maker asks for. Stacking uses the inside height you would have with the doors closed. The weight check uses the lower end of the typical payload; the legal limit is the registered gross vehicle weight on the vehicle’s RC.

Frequently asked questions

How many pallets fit in a 32 ft container truck?

On a clear floor of about 32 × 8 ft, 18 standard 1200 × 1000 mm pallets or 24 Euro pallets fit single stacked. The multi axle version has the same box and the same floor count; it carries more weight.

How many pallets fit in a 20 ft container?

By geometry on the typical inside floor of 5.90 × 2.35 m, 9 standard 1200 × 1000 mm pallets or 11 Euro pallets, single stacked. Some published tables say 10 standard pallets; that assumes a slightly longer inside length.

How many pallets fit in a 40 ft container?

The clear floor takes up to 22 standard pallets or 25 Euro pallets when rows are turned to use the width. Loaders often place one or two fewer so a forklift can work at the doors.

How many pallets fit in a 32 ft reefer?

About 16 standard pallets on the floor of a typical 32 ft multi axle reefer. Insulation makes the inside narrower than a dry box, and cold air needs a gap at the walls and the doors.

Can I double stack pallets in a truck?

Only if the goods and the packaging can bear the load above them and the height allows it. Enter the height of one loaded pallet and choose two layers; the planner checks the height. Payload still caps the total.

Why is my answer lower than the floor count?

Either the loaded pallets are too tall to stack, or the total weight would pass the typical payload of that vehicle. The result says which limit applied.
