What does E-auction (reverse auction) mean in logistics?
Short answer
An online bidding event in which pre-qualified carriers bid prices down for defined lanes or packages within a time window, and the lowest compliant bid usually wins.
Widely used by Indian manufacturers and PSUs for annual freight contracts after an RFQ. Well-run auctions fix vehicle type, service levels, payment terms and diesel linkage beforehand, so bidders compete on price for the same scope. Ask our desk how this applies to your consignment.
