What does EXW (Ex Works) mean in logistics?
Short answer
Incoterm for any mode: the seller makes the goods available at its premises, not loaded and not cleared for export; the buyer bears all costs and risks from there.
Awkward for Indian exports, because the Indian exporter still has to be the exporter on the shipping bill. FCA at the seller’s premises is usually the better choice. Ask our desk how this applies to your consignment.
