What does GST (Goods and Services Tax) mean in logistics?

Short answer

India’s destination-based indirect tax on the supply of goods and services, in force since 1 July 2017. Intra-state supplies carry CGST plus SGST; inter-state supplies carry IGST.

Freight is affected on two levels: the goods themselves need tax invoices and e-way bills, and the transport service has its own GST rules, notably the goods transport agency provisions and reverse charge. Ask our desk how this applies to your consignment.
