Can an e-way bill be cancelled?

Short answer

Yes, an e-way bill can be cancelled on the portal within 24 hours of generation when the goods are not moved, or not moved as the bill states.

It cannot be cancelled once it has been verified in transit. Sub-rule 9 of rule 138 of the CGST Rules, 2017 sets the rule. After 24 hours the bill can only lapse, so cancel quickly if the dispatch is called off. Tell our desk at once if a booked dispatch is cancelled.
