Documents and GST · E-way bill and GST
What must I do if the goods move to another truck mid-journey?
Short answer
Update Part B of the e-way bill with the new vehicle number before the goods move on, as sub-rule 5 of rule 138 of the CGST Rules, 2017 requires.
The consignor or recipient who filled Part A, or the transporter, can make the update on the portal. A breakdown or a transfer at a hub both count, so the number on the bill always matches the vehicle actually carrying the goods. If a load of yours changes truck, our desk updates the bill and tells you.
