How it works, in detail

Customs clearance is the filing of shipping bills (export) or bills of entry (import) on ICEGATE, assessment of duty, examination where selected and the release of goods. In India it must be done by the importer/exporter or a customs broker licensed under the Customs Brokers Licensing Regulations, 2018.

Our desk takes your documents, arranges the filing at the port, ICD, airport or land border and times the truck to the release, so clearance and transport run as one job.

What is a shipping bill?
The export declaration filed on ICEGATE for goods leaving India. After assessment and examination, customs grants Let Export Order (LEO).
What is a bill of entry?
The import declaration filed on ICEGATE for goods entering India, on which duty is assessed.
Can SSL arrange clearance at the Nepal border?
Yes. We arrange clearance at the ICP and time it with SSL’s Nepal-bound truck.
Who pays the customs duty?
The importer, at actuals. SSL does not mark up duties.
