Customs Clearance & Trade Compliance, Run In-House
Import and export documentation, DG declarations and bonded movement handled by our own customs team — then delivered on a 2,700+ vehicle owned fleet across 27 states.
Safe & Secure Logistics provides in-house customs clearance and trade compliance services for importers and exporters across India’s sea ports, airports and inland container depots. Import and export documentation, duty assessment, dangerous goods (DG) declarations and bonded movement are handled by our own customs and maritime team rather than outsourced brokers, and connected directly to a 2,700+ vehicle owned fleet, 700+ owned 40ft containers and 70+ warehouses for delivery to 320+ locations across 27 states. The result is one accountable party from vessel arrival to proof of delivery.
What our customs clearance service covers
Customs clearance is the legal gateway of every international shipment: filing the Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill, classifying the cargo, assessing duty, securing regulatory approvals and releasing the consignment for onward movement. Many logistics providers subcontract this step. Safe & Secure built the capability in-house, because 75 years of operating since 1951 taught us that the costliest delays happen at the handover between a broker who clears cargo and a transporter who moves it.
Import clearance
Pre-arrival document review, Bill of Entry filing, classification and duty assessment, examination coordination and port release — planned before the vessel berths so cargo is not paying demurrage while paperwork catches up.
Export clearance
Shipping Bill filing, Let Export Order follow-through and carrier handover, sequenced against vessel cut-offs. Our in-house maritime desk manages the ocean leg on the same file, including our 700+ owned 40ft containers.
DG cargo & tankers
Dangerous goods classification, declarations and transport documentation, matched to our own DG tanker capability — so hazardous cargo is cleared and lifted by one operator, not cleared by one and stranded waiting for another.
Bonded movement
Movement of cargo under bond between ports, ICDs and bonded facilities, with duty-deferred storage available across our 70+ warehouse network, including cold storage for temperature-controlled consignments.
Trade compliance advisory
Guidance on classification, licence requirements, certificates of origin and product-specific permissions before the shipment moves — resolving compliance questions at booking stage rather than at the examination bay.
Cleared-to-door delivery
Released cargo moves straight onto our owned fleet — including India’s largest private reefer fleet for cold-chain cargo — for delivery to any of 320+ locations across 27 states.
Who this service is built for
Our clearance desk serves the enterprises that have trusted the group for decades: India’s leading FMCG, pharmaceutical and industrial businesses. FMCG importers use clearance combined with our warehousing and 3PL/4PL network to land, store and distribute in one flow. Pharmaceutical shippers pair clearance with our cold-chain logistics so temperature-sensitive cargo moves from terminal to reefer to cold storage without a custody break. Industrial and chemical enterprises rely on our DG tanker capability and bonded-movement handling for cargo that requires specialised owned equipment and compliance handling under one roof. Exporters running regular container programmes typically combine clearance with our container and ocean freight service on a single contract.

Send us the commodity, port and destination — our customs team will confirm the document set and quote the full cleared-to-door movement.
How pricing works
Customs clearance pricing is straightforward when the factors are stated plainly. Our quotations are built from: the number of Bills of Entry or Shipping Bills filed; the cargo category and its examination profile; special handling such as DG declarations, tanker movement or bonded transfer; and port or terminal charges, which are passed through at actuals. Statutory duties and taxes are always payable at actuals — no operator can discount them, and any suggestion otherwise should concern you. When clearance is bundled with our container, transport or warehousing services, you receive one consolidated rate instead of three vendors’ margins stacked on each other. For the landside leg, the freight rate calculator gives an instant estimate; our team then adds the clearance component against your specific commodity.
Coverage
Clearance capability is only useful if the cargo can then reach its destination. Our customs desk operates alongside a physical network of 320+ locations across 27 states, 70+ warehouses including cold storage, and global trade corridors served through the group’s in-house maritime expertise. Check whether your delivery pincode is on-network with the serviceability checker, or call us for a specific port–ICD–destination pairing.
Why route clearance through Safe & Secure
| Factor | Standalone customs broker | Safe & Secure in-house clearance |
|---|---|---|
| Accountability | Broker clears; a separate transporter and warehouse each own their leg | One organisation from filing to proof of delivery |
| Post-clearance movement | Dependent on third-party vehicle availability | 2,700+ owned vehicles, including India’s largest private reefer fleet |
| Equipment | Leased or market containers | 700+ owned 40ft containers |
| DG cargo | Clearance only; transport subcontracted | DG declarations plus owned DG tanker capability |
| Storage & bonded options | Referred out | 70+ warehouses including cold storage and bonded movement |
| Financial standing | Varies | Debt-free group, Rs 1,354 Cr (US$160M+) consolidated revenue (FY26) |
The group has operated since 1951 — 75 years, family-owned and professionally run — and remains debt-free, which matters in customs work: duty advances, bonds and bank guarantees require a counterparty with balance-sheet strength, not just a filing licence. For oversized import cargo, the same desk coordinates with our project cargo and ODC team.
The process, from enquiry to POD
- Enquiry and scoping. Share the commodity, HS code if known, origin, port and delivery point by phone or WhatsApp. We confirm the document set and regulatory requirements before quotation.
- Quotation. One consolidated quote covering clearance, duties at actuals, and — where required — container, transport, cold-chain or warehousing legs.
- Pre-arrival documentation. Our team reviews invoices, packing lists and licences before the vessel or flight arrives, and resolves gaps while there is still time to fix them.
- Filing and assessment. Bill of Entry or Shipping Bill filed, classification and duty assessed, examination attended by our own staff at the port or ICD.
- Duty payment and release. Duty paid, release obtained, and the consignment handed directly to our fleet — reefer, tanker, container or standard vehicle as the cargo demands.
- Delivery and POD. Cargo delivered to any of 320+ network locations, with proof of delivery closing the file. Bonded or warehoused cargo is tracked until final duty-paid dispatch.

Frequently asked questions
Does Safe & Secure handle customs clearance in-house or through third-party brokers?
In-house. Customs documentation, duty assessment and port coordination are managed by our own customs and maritime team, built over 75 years of trade operations since 1951. Because the same organisation controls the clearing desk, the 700+ owned containers and the 2,700+ vehicle fleet, your consignment does not change hands between a broker, a transporter and a warehouse operator — one accountable party runs the shipment from vessel to door.
Can you clear and move dangerous goods (DG) cargo?
Yes. We maintain DG tanker capability within our owned fleet and prepare the corresponding declarations — correct classification, packaging certification and transport documentation — as part of the clearance file. Handling both the compliance paperwork and the specialised equipment under one roof removes the most common DG failure point: a cleared consignment waiting at port because no compliant vehicle is available to lift it.
What documents do I need to provide for import clearance?
Typically the commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, and any licences, certificates of origin or product-specific permissions your cargo category requires. Our team reviews the set before the vessel or flight arrives, flags gaps early, and files the Bill of Entry so that assessment and duty payment are not waiting on missing paperwork after the cargo lands.
How is customs clearance priced?
Clearance fees depend on the number of Bills of Entry or Shipping Bills, cargo category and any special handling such as DG declarations or bonded movement; statutory duties and port charges are passed through at actuals. When clearance is combined with our container, transport or warehousing services, you receive one consolidated quotation. Use the freight rate calculator on our site for an instant landside estimate, then request a clearance quotation against your commodity.
Do you support bonded warehousing and bonded movement?
Yes. We arrange movement of cargo under bond between ports, inland container depots and bonded facilities, with documentation prepared and tracked by the same in-house team that files your clearance. With 70+ warehouses in our network, including cold storage, duty-deferred storage can be combined with staged distribution across 27 states rather than clearing the full consignment on arrival.
Can you clear temperature-controlled or pharmaceutical cargo?
Yes. We operate India’s largest private reefer fleet, so a pharmaceutical or frozen food consignment can move from port clearance into a temperature-controlled vehicle and onward to cold storage without leaving our custody. Clearance timing is coordinated with reefer availability so that time- and temperature-sensitive cargo is not left standing at the terminal after assessment.
Which locations do you cover for clearance and onward delivery?
Our clearance capability sits alongside a distribution network of 320+ locations across 27 states, with 70+ warehouses and global trade corridors served through our maritime desk. For onward delivery, enter your destination pincode in the serviceability checker on our site; for a specific port, ICD or airport pairing, call +91 75062 45557 and our team will confirm the routing.
